The question that I pose to you today is: When was the last time you had a good cry?, I mean your tears were endless, snot was running down your face and you laid prostrate before the Lord without a care in the world. Some of us may not recall the last time that we cried, perhaps because we have been conditioned to be strong, to hold things in because crying is seen to some as a form of weakness, however, I strongly disagree. I believe that crying is a sign of courage and desperation. Allowing others to witness you in such a vulnerable place requires much strength and courage. David cried out to the Lord chronically and through his desperation he relied solely on the Lord to deliver him from his current state of mind, body and spirit Psalm 34: 6-7 states “I cried out in my suffering and the lord heard me. He set me free from all my fears. For the angel of the Lord guards all who fear him and rescues them. (NLV)
We are reminded through David’s cry to the Lord that it’s okay to cry and when we cry out to the Lord hears us. In such a sensitive time in our lives and in the nations, it is imperative to weep and wail before the Lord so that freedom is gained and maintained. Tears touch the master and are a way of cleansing, purifying and refreshing the soul to draw closer to God which is our source of strength. I wonder who is willing to cry out to the Lord in the face of adversity, disease, frustration, pain, suffering or in complete joy and adoration. Does it seem as though you are unable to be vulnerable? Are you willing to cry in front of your peers or relatives?, or does it require you to be so bond up that your condition will force you to cry out.
I encourage each of us to employ as scripture declares in Isaiah 58:1-, “Cry out and spare not. Lift up your voice like a trumpet in Zion.” I urge you today to be eager in crying out to the Lord so that walls of communication are broken and the Lord is able to respond with his unfailing love that will wrap around you and grant you peace for such a time as this.
